We have been building custom Vanagons Supply parts since 2018 and are doing custom installation of modified engines and hightops. With facility support, painting and body work service and mechanical engine improvements / Subaru Conversions, we stock hightops.
Volkswagen coined the name Vanagon to reinforce their point that the Vanagon had a van space, but moved like a station waggon. The Vanagon, with vinyl seats and a spartan interior, featured U.S. models; the Vanagon L with optional fabric seats, more upscale interior panels, and an optional dashboard blower; the Vanagon GL with more equipment such as a padded steering wheel and front armrests; and the pop-top camper Westfalia, which came in two versions. A Campmobile variant with an integrated kitchen, complete with a refrigerator (running on propane, 110 V or 12 V), a two-burner stove, and a stainless steel sink with a water supply on board. A fold-down rear bench seat was converted to a bed and a fold-out bed was included in the pop-top; four adults could sleep in these models. An optional removable cabinet with a 12 volt cooler and self-contained sink provided a ‘Weekender’ edition that omitted the refrigerator, propane stove, and sink of the complete ‘camper’ models. In 1984, a rear bench seat and two forward-facing middle seats were designed in the Wolfsburg version. There was a storage space and a rear heater under the bench seat, which folded down to form a full-size bed. Two rear-facing seats behind the front seats were used in the Wolfsburg Version “Weekender” models instead of a centre bench seat and a table that could fold up from the sidewall or fold down while not in use. Wolfsburg Edition trim and interior with rear-facing seats, the same fold-up table, a pop-top with an upper bed, and a cabinet on the driver’s side behind the rear seat were featured in the Multivan models. The Westfalia factory has designed Wolfsburg Version and camper van vehicles for Volkswagen.
